4G LTE is probably what comes to mind when thinking about mobile networks, for the reason being that its what all mobile network providers talk about. “4G is fast!” “4G has this much network coverage!” “Oh, and 4G is fast!” Well, apparently it’s not fast enough because soon 5G wireless technology will be amongst us. This 5th generation of a mobile network with enhanced speed is what’s up next as to our current 4G.
5G technologies are scheduled to deliver speeds 10 times faster than that of 4G, which equates to 100 megabits per second. Whew! (Wipes sweat) But is speed the only focus of this coming technology? Not even hardly, the possibilities of 5G mobile network are unmeasured, thus creating advancements of technologies that is incredibly futuristic.
Only thing, we can expect to see 5G hit our data plans in 2020.However, Verizon and AT&T will construct some beta testing of their early 5G technologies on a fixed network to selected businesses and homes beginning in 2017. As always the future is here… it’s just still brewing.
Here’s some background info about the capabilities that the previous G’s brought us
- 2G: Gave us the power to text
- 3G: Unleashed web browsing
- 4G: Gave us speed
For those who are not familiar with megabits, it’s usually abbreviated, “MB”. Here’s a clearer example
